Murakoze! Thank You!

This LOVE WORKS blog comes to you with some pretty awesome news!

July 28th, 2021 was Abana’s 12th year of hosting an All Day FORE Africa Summer Event and it was AWESOME! It was a KIDS FOR KIDS day with the great purpose to FEED, TEACH and GIVE HOPE to people in Rwanda.

We once again had the lofty goal to raise $40,000 which will fully fund all of the Abana programming in Rwanda for another year!

With the hard work of all the Abana Ambassadors and so many generous partners (like YOU!), we did it!! That means that we will be able to continue feeding almost 1,000 students in Kibeho, provide great learning opportunities at The Abana Children’s Academy and offer secondary education scholarships to students in Rwanda! Pretty awesome stuff!

The Abana Ambassadors really outdid themselves this year! It’s difficult to put into a few paragraphs the absolute FUN we had at the 12th annual ADFA Summer Event. But with the new Abana Passport, we were able to travel around to many activities and include kids of all ages with different interests.

One fun addition to the event was the Puppy Party...that’s right. At Abana, we believe that even pups can be great partners with the Abana movement. Dogs of all shapes and sizes were sporting their new Abana bandana’s and enjoying a pup cup and the creative Puppy Art project.

The Worthington tennis courts were home to Bennett and Blaine’s 100 games of tennis. They worked hard to collect pledges for their games and raised over $1,000 towards the big goal. Then they both put their sweat into a HOT day of tennis. It was a fun throwback to the original All Day FORE Africa! The Abana crew had a blast watching these two committed Ambassador until well after dark!

Thanks to the YMCA for hosting the swimming and rock climbing events. Many commented that it was their first time on the rock wall! Another fun addition was the Literary Feats, where you could experience Readers Theaters, Mad Libs, quiet reading and more!

All around, it was great to see so many kids trying new things. There were many other fun happenings all day long!

It was a beautiful day where the community came together to celebrate the goodness of people and the joy of doing it TOGETHER.

It was also fun to see many friends who joined us from around the United States for the “Wherever You Are”. People joined in the fun that day by sporting their Abana T-shirt and doing what they love to do! There were faces from California, Colorado, and Florida just to name a few.

We’d like to give a big shout out to all our faithful sponsors and partners who continue to share this vision of KIDS FOR KIDS. It is because of you that we are able to continue to provide lunch for nearly 1,000 students, creative learning opportunities at The Children’s Academy and provide numerous scholarships for Rwandan students.

Together we are able to do some incredible things that are impacting kids in Rwanda AND kids right here in the United States!
